Dr. Somi Kim is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Her residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was completed at Massachusetts General Hospital with combined M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree from Harvard Medical School. She served as a chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2015 to 2016. Upon graduation, she expanded her experience by becoming a faculty member at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate program director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency 2016-2018, followed by associateship in a group private practice 2018-2019, and multi-specialty group dental practice 2019-2024.

She has written numerous book chapters and papers in various topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Her recent passion is utilizing pterygoid implants in patients with atrophic maxilla. She has given a national presentation on this topic of pterygoid implants.
Dr. Kim practices a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; dentoalveolar surgery including dental implants, All-On-X (AOX) procedures, bone grafting, wisdom teeth, procedures that are required for orthodontics such as exposure and bonding of impacted dentition, pathology, facial trauma, and management of temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
She enjoys utilizing cutting edge technology to improve patient safety, clinical outcome, and efficiency. 3D imaging technology is essential in achieving a comprehensive view of each patient's facial skeleton, which is instrumental in accurately diagnosing skeletal conditions and meticulously planning surgical procedures. She loves to utilize the power of your body’s natural healing properties with Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF). PRF, derived from your own blood, is rich in platelets, growth factors, white blood cells, fibrin, and mesenchymal stem cells, promoting faster healing, reducing postoperative pain, lowering the risk of dry sockets and infections, and enhancing regenerative potential across a variety of procedures.
Dr. Kim’s extensive experience with implant and All-On-X (AOX) procedures allows us to offer immediate implant placement in many cases, significantly reducing overall treatment time for patients. If you are considering dental implants, we encourage you to consult with Dr. Kim to determine if you are a candidate for immediate implant placement. Currently, she holds operating privileges at Boston Medical Center and is a part time faculty at Boston Medical Center.
Dr. Kim has a strong dedication to serving the community. She is involved in On Board For Kids, a nonprofit organization, where she recently joined a service trip to Colombia to provide dental care for underserved pediatric and adult population in 2023.
