Dental Implant Surgery

You may have a small circular abutment protruding through the gum tissue to keep it away, which is normal to see. Your tongue may be curious and move the abutment, potentially causing it to become loose. If it does come off, it is not an emergency, but please call our office so we can place it back for you. Additionally, do not disturb the wound by rinsing, spitting, or touching it on the day of surgery. There will be a metal healing abutment protruding through the gingival (gum) tissue, and it is important to let it heal undisturbed.
